ACOUSTIC ROCK ... for real. Alan plays acoustic 6-string guitar, using "open" tunings, and sings with raw sincerity. His songs are well crafted and have been praised by some of the best. If you like acoustic stuff with lyrics, here you are.

Alan's music is reminiscent of Jim Morrison, Richie Havens, Jim Croce, John Mellencamp, Shawn Colvin, Tori Amos ... he doesn't actually sound like them, but if you like those artists, you'll like what Alan does.

Out of the late 60s ... into the new millenium ... this acoustic rock artist has reapproached the stage with a voice that displays his passion ... and his experience. In June of 1998, work with Bill Aucoin (longtime manager of KISS) led to a signing with Halfmoon Records in Greenwich Village, featuring Alan's artistry on two compilation CDs titled, "Discover New York City In Music." He can also be found on the "Artists for Peace - COLUMBINE HIGH BENEFIT CD" and on "THE KOSOVO REFUGEE RELIEF ALBUM". Alan's presence on the web began in January, 1999 - with a site of his own design: alanhorvath.com ... his performances are generally in and around the NYC/NJ area, sometimes Pennsylvania, and New Haven, Connecticut.

Bob Dylan's Freewheelin' and BlondeOnBlonde albums ... the Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's and White albums ... the Doors ... Cream ... artists like Richie Havens, Tim Buckley, Leonard Cohen and Tim Hardin ... poets like Emerson, Thoreau, Whitman ... e.e.cummings, T.S. Elliot ... have all paved major in-roads into his nature. The purity of a singer-songwriter with a guitar, an interesting voice, and an unusual thought to offer ... in the form of a song ... is the epitome of what it's all about, for him. Anything that lifts that up higher, is just icing on the cake ... like Mike Toth's bass, on songs like "Right As Rain" and "Wishes" ... or Bob Hart's shining fretless bass licks, joined by A. Perry Heller's bongos and congas with Leah Coloff and Chris Lee offering duet cellos, on songs like "Naked Moon" and "Straight & Narrow" ... live performances rule.
