Shake the Tree were originally formed at the end of 1995 in London via the route of various college notice boards.
The starting lineup was:
Steve Burns - Vocals, Guitar
Phil Champkin - Bass
Richard Mapes - Vocals, Guitar
Early efforts were hampered by a series of exploding drummers (yes this really does happen) until Richard Cullen
joined in the middle of '97 and the lineup has been unchanged since.
Music-wise the sound is varied tune driven power pop, ranging from mellow, trippy ramblings through to hard edged full on energy rock.
The band has played at most of the usual North London indie venues but are now reducing the number of gigs played to concentrate on recording new
material and have just set up a home studio for this purpose.
